Zac Attack!!

You may know that Zac is 1/3 of Cha Cha’s ownership, and he always has something to say about something! In between his witty jokes and doing hair for 5 people at once, Zac took a moment to tell us what he thought about Cha Cha’s five questions. Here’s what he had to say:

T- When did you know you wanted to be a hairstylist?

“what would make you happy?”, and I thought about it for a minute.  At that moment, I was looking around, I noticed a lady’s hair across the room.  And I thought, maybe I could fix her hair?…so I decided that hair school is where I was headed.  I haven’t regretted it at all.  It really has made me happy and I love what I do.

T-If you could have one super power what would it be?

Z- To read minds (He has an amused smile on his face)

T- You are having a party, and can invite 5 people, who would it be?

Z- Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Clinton, Dalai Lama, George Michael, and my mom.

T- What is one thing you can’t live without?

Z- Oh, soft wax!

T- What is one place you think is a Lexington Landmark?

Z- A la Lucie! It has great food and great atmosphere!

California Dreamin’

This weekend is the official start of summer. This time of year, I am always reminded of one of the most popular questions I am asked behind a chair.
“How can I get that beach-hair look?”
I think I can help.
     THE TWIST
This would work best if you did it at night, right after you shampoo your hair and it is still damp. Twist and wrap your hair into two to four low twist or buns. Experiment to see what works best for you. Using smaller sections will give you smaller waves. You can spray a little salt spray, like Kevin Murphy HAIR.RESORT.SPRAY, in your hair first to give it some hold and to help fight some of the frizz.
You want to be sure your hair is dry by the time you wake in morning – so make sure your hair isn’t too wet when you try to do this. If your hair is really long or super thick, it will still be too damp to style in the morning. When you wake up, undo the twist and lightly brush through your hair with your fingers. You can also apply more salt spray and twist the curls back into shape if you wish, in order to give your waves extra definition. This is especially useful if your hair is really straight and doesn’t hold a curl very well.
A few points:
Make the twist low.  You the waves on the ends not to high. Some of my guests braid their hair into a loose braid, and it works for them.
Do not style it too much.  Some frizz is fine.  It looks real and natural.  Crunchy-scrunched curl ain’t what we are going for, sister.
Practice.  It will take a few times to get the product combination and the size of the twist to your liking.  It all depends on your hair texture, your wave, and even the length of your hair.
If you have a different technique- let us know. We love to hear about what tricks you use at home to fix your hair.

Have a great Summer.
